Sophia's bag

Well, here is the bag we made for our friend's little girl to take to dancing class. I wanted to add a bigger ruffle to the top but decided it would hide the name and take away from the design so I went with a smaller ruffle just attached to the outside around the top.

There is a button loop on the top that I made from the denim but in the future I think I would use the same material as the ruffle/bottom of bag. The denim is kind of heavy for the loop. Overall, I am happy with the way it came out.

What do you think?

Okay, you have all been introduced to Angie. Here is a picture of her sleeping on my lap with her head and paws laying on my arms. Makes it hard to type, but I love the comfort of her just laying there purring away.
I am tired today - the heat gets to me and this is the hottest it's been for quite a while. Not sure of the temp outside but it's about 80 -85 inside. I'm not a big lover of air conditioning so I did not put it in the window yet. I have 2 window fans, one in bedroom, one in living room; and there is a ceiling fan in the living room. The ceiling fan is on now and it is pleasant, but warm.

Daughter embroidered a ballerina bear on a piece of denim and embroidered a name above it. I will make it into a small tote for her to give to a friend who's little girl takes dance classes. I have an idea for it, want to put a ruffle around the top and maybe a little bow sewed on the front by her name. I post a picture when I get it done. The bear has an appliqued skirt and I will use the same material (pink) for the ruffle, a band at the bottom and the ribbon. Can't wait to see how it comes out.

General

Well, since I've already spent enough time on the computer (where does the time go?) I guess I'd better go get something done around here. BBL

Paisley Bag

Hi Everyone - I finally finished my Paisley Bag! Love these colors. What do you think?

Now to decide on my next project.

Sunday, June 13, 2010

Okay, I guess I've done enough blogging for today! I need to get to work on my bag and get some things done around the house. Work tomorrow and Tuesday so not sure I'll get back here until Wednesday. My final picture of the day - Angie laying on my lap - her head and paws are on my arm - so the days I tell you I am typing one-handed, this is why. She is such a riot.

Actually the Jewel Box quilt I posted below is the one my daughter is working on. This one is mine. Couldn't figure out how to get back into that post to edit it. I went for the brighter colors - LOL.

Pineapple Quilt

My daughter made this for me as a birthday gift. It is a paper-pieced pineapple quilt. I absolutely love the color combination. The top picture shows the final result.

Jewel Box Quilt

This is a JEWEL BOX quilt top - it was supposed to be a 1 day class - big joke. We had to go the night before to cut the fabrics, then the day of class started sewing. This should not have been a 1 day class, 2 or 3 would have been much better. I love the look but it's been put away for a while. My daughter went too and same results. She wants to finish hers to give to her son to take to college with him. We'll see! I will pull it out and work on it every once in a while.

Paisley Bag

This is the next color combo that I will be using to make another bag. I really like this one.

Nick's Graduation

Okay, I'm ready to add some more pictures. This is me with my oldest grandson at his graduation a week ago. Let's call this my before picture. I'm working on losing the weight and hate to have pictures taken! The 2nd one is my daughter and her family.

Angie

I guess that's all for now - time to finish up my laundry, etc. But, let me leave you with a picture of my Kitty. Her name is Angie and she was a stray. She is pure white with the softest fur you could imagine. She is a sweetheart.

Market Tote

These are some of the tote bags that I've made using "Market Tote" Pattern from Susan Rose Designs. I took a class and made the first one and loved it so I made a bunch more. You can use any theme for the basic fabric and they can be used as a pocketbook, diaper bag, just about anything you can imagine. It's funny because I would not have bought this pattern except for taking the class. I did not like the picture on the packaging.

Rose Floral Bag

This is the first bag of this style that I made. The pattern is "Mini Bow Tucks" by Penny Sturges. I bought this at my local fabric store. I absolutely love this one and gave it to my daughter. She carries it everywhere. I tried to find these fabrics again to make another one and cannot find it. I've looked everywhere local. I've found some other great combos but not this one.

Floral/Stars Bag

This is the latest bag I finished. My daughter picked the combination of fabrics. I wasn't sure I would like it, but I am pleased with the way it came out. The pocket is on the front of the bag. On the back is a button to keep it closed.

Hi

Hi Everyone,

Well I've finally stepped into the world of blogging. Not sure yet what I'm doing but it should be fun trying to figure it out.
